The video demonstrates the simplicity of the instrument, which uses buttons to fire samples and axis to alter parameters such as pitch, frequency and stereo positioning.
The sounds were recorded from a visit to Donington racecourse. Many samples were taken from the car driven by Formula 3 racing driver Stephen Jelly. There are also some more ambient recordings of race track action.
Although sonic racing car has possibly less potential for music creation than my previous work, the ability to produce new sound compositions blending engine/mechanical noises has proved popular within the gaming community.
